We have partnered with Gallery 881 in Vancouver, Canada for our next project and Open Call. Gallery 881 is a lens-based art hub promoting the photographic arts through exhibitions, art sales, public events, and other visual art based programming.

The open call will run through June 22 2023

Selected artists will be showcased in our upcoming print issue and have the opportunity to participate in physical and digital exhibitions at Gallery 881. The exhibition date is to be announced. 

Open Call Topic: Rituals

This open call invites artists from all backgrounds to submit their work that explores the power of daily habits and rituals, beyond the confines of religion.

We believe that rituals have the ability to ground us and give us a sense of stability and routine in our daily lives. We are interested in seeing artwork that captures the beauty and significance of these daily practices, and how they can provide comfort and strength even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty.

We are looking for pieces that celebrate the power of daily rituals and showcase the sense of community and connection that they can bring to our lives. We encourage artists to submit work that reflects their unique perspectives on this theme.

This exhibition aims to inspire viewers to reflect on their own daily habits and find meaning in the simple moments of their lives. We look forward to seeing your submissions!

How does the membership work? There is a $35 (CAD) membership fee. This is a one time payment to access the project page. It is not a recurring subscription. The project submission page can be accessed any time during the submission period by community members. You’re welcome to make as many submissions as you’d like as part of your membership. We’re an independent arts organization supported by our community. We do not receive government funding or sponsorships. Our open calls are accessible through a membership model to each project. This ensures that we have a central place for a dedicated community to create the project. With your membership you also directly help to keep the lights on at BROAD.

Payment of the submission fee/membership does not guarantee the submitted artwork to be selected. Curation for the exhibition and print publication is at the discretion of our curators and editors. All selected contributors will be contacted within two weeks after the open call deadline.

Selected works will be automatically included in our upcoming print issue and the digital exhibition through Gallery 881. Please note that participation in the physical exhibition will require an additional production fee to prepare, print and frame your artwork for the show. Participation in the physical gallery exhibition is optional. Artists will earn commission on art sales through the gallery.
