words by Dariusz Jasak

When travelling through the US–especially on the west coast–one can get the impression that this country is made for machines. While this is nothing but ordinary, it’s rarely seen in Europe where ancient urbanization defined small and narrow streets. Driving through Nevada, California, Utah deserts, and small towns, you might drive for hours without seeing a person’s face because you pass the vehicles too fast to notice the person behind the steering wheel. The biggest chance of encountering a fellow human being arises when you eventually have to stop and refill gas. Bigger cities like Los Angeles and Miami are more concentrated with people, but they’re nevertheless connected by endless snakes of cars. In this series, I focused on the phenomenon of the United States’ car industry.
